Well I've been here one week now, and slowly climatizing. Been a bit chilly between 14-18 maxs, but summer is only a few weeks away then may get up to mid 20's.
The people absolutley love the sun which has been breaking through those grey clouds the last 3 days, they strip off, open their car sunroofs and sit out in it - I got caught on Sunday afternoon when Angie and her partner unexepctedly called us when we were in town, suggesting we all meet at one of the pubs - of course we had to sit in the sun (all part of it) and I actually got sunburn on my face, cause I had no hat or sunscreen with me - now I go out with sunscreen on at least, cause it appears it can still burn.
Been occupied opening bank accounts, applying for free public transport (for over 60's)!!!!!! Hope I get that one. And also free pool entry for over 60's!(Has its advantages)- And looking for digs etc.
Wanted to stay in Ilkley but could only find a 1 bedroom unfurnished flat above a shop which was very nice but then would have the expense of furniture etc and elec/gas etc for $150 pw whereas I found a cute litte attic bedroom for rent for the -same price which includes all costs incl intenet- in a really cute tiny house in a village called Menston, 5 miles away. The landlady is my age which should be nice. I move there on Sunday. My (second) cousin Angie is going to lend me all sorts of things to make it homely, My cousins have been so nice to me, its really nice to be treated so well. The village is on the train line between Ilkley and Leeds which is a large city. So I am thinking of registering for temp office work, that way I can choose when I want a break. Enquired about a shop job in Ilkley 15 hrs pw, but she said, Ok, except to realise I would be on my feet all day and its heavy work, unloading stock etc, still thinking about that, also the wage is the minimum $10 per hr!
Going to buy a car as that way others dont have to pick me up etc and I can go explore the beautiful country side.
I have registered to help out in the Cancer Research charity shop once a week and start this week.
Well I heard the Ya Ya's are all off to the Art Gallery, I will be thinking of you so have a coffee to absent friends.
