| Sunday, June 16, 2013 -- Frankfurt, Germany|
We arrived in Frankfurt on Sunday morning, June 16, after a long non-stop flight on Condor air from Seattle with our traveling companions, the LK family and the F family. We spent our 4 hour layover having lunch and eating various gummy candies, of which the Frankfurt airport duty free shop has a surprisingly large selection.
The tools and bike hardware I carried onboard in Seattle (half inch box wrench, pedal wrench, u-bolts, wood platform, and riser handlebars) did not pass muster going through security in Frankfurt for the flight to Paris. The two small wrenches were "too large" and I was told that the riser handlebars could potentially be used as a "club".
So I headed back to ticketing to check the pannier with our bike hardware and tools hopeful that my specially made foot platform for the tandem bike that Val and I would be riding would not be lost. I will say that the German security staff were very polite and made sure that I could cut the line and breeze through security after checking the pannier.
