A year before my first travel, I prepared a passport just in case I would be able to travel or just hoping to travel one day, I had a feeling that I would. My first journey was in Macau, China, on March of 2007. I was 24 years old that time. I didn't really plan for such a trip but maybe I got lucky on that year. It's funny how I got to travel there for free.
Here's the story, a month before my trip to Macau, I won a trip to Hong Kong from a local fastfood chain. I was like jumping for joy when I heard it, it's for real, somebody called me up and informed me about the raffle entry that I won. I was aired on the radio and I was requested to have my photo taken so that I'll be featured in that resto and I did, that got me so excited. I told myself "wow!, dreams do come true". They told me to just wait because they had to arranged the travel itinerary. Yeah, I've waited for a go signal and I was wondering why it took them so long to prepare. I thought maybe "that was just a big joke. I was still hopeful and waited for it.
Unfortunately, a few weeks or a month after that, they notified me to cancel the trip since the 4 other people who won that raffle won't be able to go (they're oldies, so not really that eager). Bang, that mini heart attack! oh they broke my heart into pieces. They converted it to cash instead. I was like "I don't need cash, I need to experience it for free" haha. Well, I've got nothing to do, the majority won. So I claimed the cash, it's worth P15,000 pesos not bad though, but I know that wasn't enough for a Hong Kong trip. Well, I believe in the saying "accept closed doors for there will be better opportunity coming, better than what you've imagined and expected".
Here's the thrill, after a month, I was told by my stepmom if I wanted to travel as her representative/proxy since she won't be able to go, it's actually an annual company award for her. So I was like, "what, why not? The good thing was, it's an all-expense paid trip in a luxurious accommodation. I was with a bunch of people, I hardly know them but a friend of my step mom who was part of that travel, accompany me all along since I was the youngest at that time, she was like my chaperon. Most of the people there were executives including her. She has a kind heart, I had to say that.
Along the journey, my eyes were mesmerized when I finally stepped on the Macau Airport. I love the cold weather since I don't get to experience cold season in my country, Philippines haha. I've enjoyed every moment there including the food, the monuments, the historical feel of Macau with a touch of Spanish Era. It was the best time of my life. It's' more than what I've expected. I thank God for it, for he made me experienced such a lovely journey, and from that time, I knew everything could be possible. It's spectaculous I mean spectacular ^^
Try to check my photos, I got only a few though, recovered it from my Myspace account( gahh, that was a long time ago, I know nobody checks Myspace these days)
