Today we woke up early to travel to Berlin. On the way we stopped in Dresden which was almost completely destroyed during World War II. It was a quaint and quiet little city with quirky street music and markets on a Sunday. There we had lunch for an hour and looked around until having to get back on the bus. Today we had another completely free day in the city which started with a brief walking tour. Ashley took us walking after breakfast to the castle, but first we stopped to get a Czech delicacy that I cannot pronounce or spell but we ended up just calling it Turtleneck. Today we had quite a sobering morning on our way to Prague in the Czech Republic, as we visited the famous concentration camp Auschwitz and its sister camp Auschwitz II Birkenau. Having read so many terrible stories about these concentration camps and the things that went on within their walls, it was weird to see it in plain sight. Today we explored Krakow. It was a miserable morning however because the weather was rainy and overcast (mind you it's the first day of bad weather we have had this whole trip) and many of us were hungover from the night before. While many didn't even make the bus in the morning, I was up and ready to cram my day with lots of sites. I started by walking to the Jewish quarter in the rain. Today we travelled from Budapest to Krakow in Poland. After arriving in the city that night, we took a short walking tour around Krakow and then separated to go have dinner. A couple of the girls and I went to a fancy looking restaurant and I had polish noodles with chicken and spinach, with a side of sweet and sour beetroot.
