So I finished my last blog with "best birthday ever" but today I had the worst hangover ever. Today we travelled into Florence for an early morning walking tour and I woke up 30 minutes before we had to leave in a makeshift bed on the floor. I had a killer queasy stomach and was majorly dehydrated. I also missed breakfast because I woke up too late. I felt much better about my terrible state however when we all got on the bus and none of us looked remotely awake and couldn't remember exactly what had happened the night before. I've heard that there's always one massive night on tour, and the night before was definitely it (or at least I hope it was!). No matter how sick I was however, the fun that everyone had together on the dance floor was so worth it. We then had a walking tour through Florence which I was unable to pay attention to for very long and then a short leather demonstration. I did however get to see an exact replica of Michaelangelos statue of David where it stood all those years ago, which was what I mainly wanted to see. Afterwards we had a couple of hours of free time but all I could manage was lunch (and even that was a stretch) and a long sit down in the main square. I couldn't even manage gelato so you can understand how sick I was. Then we finally walked back to the bus only to find that the bus had broken down and was in need of a repair which would take over 2 hours. So to pass the time the entire group sat in a park drinking beer and talking, but I slept on the grass for most of the time. After a sleep I felt much better however - yay! When the bus was finally fixed we then headed off to Rome, but on the way our air conditioning broke which caused further delays which meant we could no longer have a private walking tour of Rome that night. This unfortunately meant we only had half a day to explore Rome the next day after our Vatican tour, but I was honestly a little relieved at this news, as the walking tour that night was expected to take 4 hours and while I was feeling better I was still not 100%. Needless to say it was an early night to bed for me.
