Today was another travel day where we drove for over 6 hours to get to Budapest. As soon as we drove into Budapest I knew I was going to love it there. It just had such an awesome atmosphere and such nice weather (sunny but not too hot). We then were quickly dropped off at the peace monument, which is a big statue of a lady holding a palm frong which is positioned on top of a huge hill on the Buda side of the city. It looks over Budapest like the statue that looks over Rio De Janeiro. Up there, there were awesome views of the Pest side of the city too. We then drove to the hostel to get ready for our dinner out. Dinner was in a restaurant called Fatal (not very encouraging) but it was fatally good. I ordered the Pork "Hungarian Gypsy Style" which I soon learned was marinated in a peri peri type garlic sauce with potatoes, homemade vinaigrette coleslaw and a fried egg on top. Delicious! We were then led by our tour guide to a local bar which is featured in the Lonely Planet's guide to the best bars in the world. I can't really describe what the bar looked like because there was just too much going on in there but just to name a few things: there was an old vintage car you could sit in for a table, ferns and other crazy things hanging from a netted ceiling (open air), lounges everywhere and little tv screens playing Andy Warhol type videos on repeat everywhere. In short, super arty and cool. There was also a shisha bar where you could choose your flavour of shisha and share it around a table. I have always wanted to try shisha so why not in Budapest! A couple of girls and I ordered a grape shisha to try and the more experienced ones taught me what to do. Took me a while to get the hang of it, but it was pretty cool when I finally did. By about midnight I was keen to go home so I left with another guy who wanted to as well, however it wasn't until 1 in the morning that we finally arrived beach at the hostel because we got majorly lost in the city. Not fun!
