Today we went to teach at the school!! It was amazing! There is so much to tell you all! We are in charge of giving presentations to the local schools about el medio ambiente (the environment). It is so fun to see the childrens interest! The whole presentation is in spanish! I am learning SO much. We did a few skits, had them repeat important words like environment, extinction, and carbon dioxide. They are learning how important it is that we take care of our planet and they are so excited to learn what they can do. Mateo has had them filling bottles for the new school construction and for latrines that are almost underway. These bottles are filled with all the plastics that do not breakdown in the landfills and are instead used for building supplies! It´s so awesome! We made posters and did some experiments for them to see. They were telling us all the words they have learned in English and they were so proud!!

We are right now on our way to the mercado to get more food. We are going though a lot at the house right now since there are six of us always there eating. For lunch today we made rice with veggies, guacamole (I made!), and a tomato salsa and tortillas!! I now know how to make tortillas! I´m so excited!

Saturday night we had a new person show up who is going to stay with us for a while. He is from France and is traveling throughout Central America. It is great because he doesn´t like to try and speak English to us as this confuses him with his Spanish learning so we have to speak Spanish to him all the time! It is fun trying to figure stuff out and we are constantly looking at our books.

Tomorrow we will be teaching English to a women and in exchange she will be teaching us spanish and Quechican (the native language of the Myans). Tonight we are going to make from scratch carrot cake to take to the lady as a thank you for teaching us.

Also this week we will be meeting with the Mayor of Comalapa to talk about our program and how important it is for us to spread the word! Oh and we will be in the newspaper on Sunday and another day as the reporter we met with today wants to do a two part article!!
