Hoi An 12th-15th April
Hoi An was a cool place, by the riverside feels a bit like being in France if it wasn't for the heat and humidity (which we are getting a bit sick of by now). Thankfully our hotel had a swimming pool (most of the hotels do here, and for good money! $8 a night each for a 3 star hotel).
There were some pretty delightful French style bakeries which sold the best chocolate croissants ever! After eating at one of these we got down to the business everyone is up to in Hoi An; getting tailor made clothes. Finding one and sorting out the price is stressful but once we had our measurements in the bag we were happy, all the hard work definitely called for a dip in the pool.
On our final day in Hoi An we decided it would be good to check out the local ruins of My Son (pronounced Me Son). Unfortunately the site had been a hideout for the Viet Cong during the war and not much of the original grandeur still stood. What we did see was interesting, but walking round ruins in the heat is only entertaining for a limited amount of time.
Picking up the suits was one hell of a palaver, we got our suits re-fitted several times and still weren't quite happy with them but our bus to Nha Trang was leaving soon. In conclusion you need to allow a lot of time to select your tailor and get fitting and re-fitting done. We kind of knew this but we didn't want to hang around Hoi An too long with so many other places to see. We'll see what you guys think of the suits when we get back home!
