(We are in Krabi, Thailand at the moment but catching up with muchos missed blogs)
Penang and Langkawi 17th - 21st March
The journey to Penang was a lot smoother than to KL and only took about 5 hours. We went to Penang hoping for a beach retreat after being in so many cities, we were not greeted with one! Georgetown, Penang is like a mini KL, not massively chilled out. We decided to move on quite quickly but took some time to visit the history of the area (Penang used to be a colonial English town). We went to visit the fort on the island. On our second night we finally succumbed to one of the many European restaurants in Malaysia and got a big juicy burger instead of more noodle/curry you're not quite sure what it's made out of.
We got a ferry to the popular Malaysian holiday resort Langkawi and stayed in the Pantai Tengah region here. It was just what we were looking for; quiet beautiful beaches, calm, warm sea water and duty free alcohol (beers for the equivalent of 70p). As you can imagine we didn't do much else here except chill out and plan our route through Thailand.
Love Alex and Sophie xxxx
PS Thanks for all the messages, looking forward to catching up with everyone!
