Siestas, tapas, sangria and "clothing optional" beaches... what better way to extend summer than follow the sun to Spain?
We hijacked Aaron's Spanish holiday and joined him on a road trip of the Southern East coast. Between driving on the right side of the road and weird placement of traffic lights we had a few close calls but managed to come out intact. We spent our days cruising from beach to beach along the amazing coastline and our nights enjoying the range of tapas and the cold beverages that they accompanied.
On our last stop we visited Alhambra - the number one attraction in Spain. It's a palace and fortress complex built when Spain was Islamic. The intricacies and detail of the decorations is exquisite and a utopia to behold. Aaron left us in Granada to continue his trip to Copenhagen. We chilled out for a few more days in Granada to plan the next stage of our trip.
We found ourselves a good option for a place to bunker down in Portugal, and planned a two day stopover in Sevilla along the way. We managed to time our arrival so that we could attend a Spanish Primera Liga (premier league) game between Sevilla and Malaga. These teams are both provinces of Andalusia so it was a real rivalry match and it was awesome! We were sitting about 30m from the supporters area, complete with police protection, and were right amongst the exchanges of vocal abuse as the game found its way to a 2-2 draw.
