You know the feeling that you get after a long trip... "I need a holiday to recover from this holiday!" Well after 6 months of globe trekking we found ourselves a nice spot in Faro Portugal to settle down while we sorted out the next phase of our grand plan. This gave us the chance to return to something resembling a normal routine, such as cooking (we have a kitchen!), doing laundry like normal people (we have a washing machine!) and exercising (we can finally justify packing the running shoes!).
What we originally planned to be a few weeks of sorting out details gradually turned into about 7 weeks of limbo between "We are technically homeless and unemployed..." and (spoiler alert) "Yay, we're moving to Norway!" This proved to be plenty of time to catch up on reading, movies, TV series, watch the America's cup, learn some Norwegian, and contemplate "life, the universe and everything". We also got in some shopping to prepare ourselves for the transition from an endless summer into a Norwegian winter.
The weather in southern Portugal is starting to cool but it was still warm enough to get some good trips to the beach, including a weekend trip to the Lagos. After exclusively eating home cooked meals for many weeks, our trip to Lagos was like a holiday from our post-trip transitional holiday (and you thought Inception was complicated!). We enjoyed strolling around the old town, eating some delicious sea food, swimming at a quiet beach along the beautiful coastline, waking up to watch the sunrise and eating some delicious Portuguese custard tarts.
So now we are about 24 hours away from getting on a plane to Oslo, marking the end of our trip and the start of a whole new adventure...
So long, and thanks for all the fish..
THE END ?
