Xi'an is a place I've wanted to visit ever since I heard about the Terracotta Warriors. Stepping into the pit of the discovered sculptures was breathtaking. The intricacy and volume was unbelievable. As we circled the statues there were still unearthed warriors along with those being repaired.
We hired our first tandem bike on top of the Old City Wall overlooking the bustling city. The top of the wall is about 15m wide, and I was glad that we chose this sparse area to try our first tandem bike as it's harder than it looks! As we got the hang of not knocking each other off balance we managed to pick up quite a bit of speed with other tourists taking photos of us as we whizzed by. This is the best way to explore this historical wall and get an amazing view of the city. Walking through the city the occasional historical bell tower amongst the traffic lined streets reminded you that his place was once the capital of China with so much history to offer.
