Look out Asia, here we come!! We made the journey from Frankfurt in a bit of style, anyway. Thanks to Qantas for the Premium Economy upgrade!!
As promised our long lost amigo, Becky Reining was waiting for us when we came through customs and whisked us away to her apartment where we settled in for a long over due glass of wine and catch up. It's been a while. Becky had prepared a delicious vegetarian lasagna and spinach/ strawberry salad. A great home cooked meal, just what the doctor ordered.
The next morning we got a nice workout in at her apartment's gym then headed into town to meet Becky for a great lunch. We went to an awesome spot called Level 33. The view over the city was pretty sweet from up there. After lunch it rained quite a bit so Gina and I did the Singapore indoor tourist thing which consists of wandering the seemingly endless shopping malls in Singapore. We went to the super bling bling shopping center and oogled a ton of Luxury Brand stores at merchandise we couldn't afford. The Louis Vuitton store is literally a small island attached to the rest of the mall by a tunnel. There were no prices on anything, and there were several dozen suited shop assistants who eyed us suspiciously. I guess my beard isn't exactly typical of most of their customers.
That evening we met up with 2 of Becky's friends, Molly and Marcelo, for a great sushi dinner before meeting a bunch more of her crew at a sweet open air bar for some drinks. One thing is certain, food and drinks in Singapore is NOT cheap. The pitchers of beer were 35 Singaporean dollars: ~US$27. Yikes!!
The next morning we were up and at 'em early to catch our 8:00am flight from Singers to Phuket, Thailand. We're going to be back in Singapore for the Thanksgiving extravaganza with Becky and a handful of our homies from Australia, hence our quick stop in this time. See ya soon, Singers!
