Just My Backpack & Me
My last team mate here left this evening, so now it's just me here! Yesterday I went to the Perth Zoo where I saw koalas, kangaroos, dingos, and other Aussie animals. It was cool. The koalas were funny because they were just sleeping in the trees. One of them raised its head and then went back to sleep. Remind me to come back in my next life as a koala, eh? Today I went to Fremantle, a small town about 30 minutes from Perth. They have a pretty cool harbor and an interesting former prison where they held all sorts of convicts. Tonight I'm staying at an eco-friendly hostel in Perth. It's really cool. They have native gardens and they are all about recycling, composting, and using solar panels. A friend from high school has some relatives who live in Perth and they have invited me to spend Thanksgiving with them on Thursday night. I'm excited! On Friday, I'll be traveling north to start working on an organic farm. I contacted the farm and they said there are lots of things for me to do, namely picking fruit. We'll see how this goes as this is my first time doing this kind of work. Take care everyone!
Other Random Observations:
Bananas are so expensive here. I bought one for $2.50 (in Australian dollars)
They have dual flush toilets everywhere here. These are the ones where you can choose how much water to use when flushing. They use these to conserve water. I know...this is a weird observation.
People here have thought that I come from Scotland and Germany!
