Hey everyone. I said goodbye to Australia and hello to New Zealand. I've been in New Zealand for about a week now. It's a lot colder here than in Australia and windy! The weather here changes very quickly so it's good that I have my raincoat handy. I'm hanging out with my friend Peter, who lives in Auckland, NZ, but is originally from Knoxville. It's good to see a fellow Knoxvillian while I'm here! We just got back from a 3 day road trip to 2 towns: Rotorua and Lake Taupo. Rotorua smells like rotten eggs because of the sulfur in the area. We saw some thermal pools there which were really cool to see with the boiling water. In Lake Taupo we were supposed to go on a hike this morning but we were never picked up by the tour company. We later found out that a lahar occurred, which is something like a piece of the crater of the volcano we were supposed to hike to caved in somehow! We are back in Auckland now regrouping after being on the road for a few days. Hope everyone is well and rooting on the Vols in the NCAA tournament!
