Last ever Antigua Blog
Okay this is the last entry from Antigua and although it's being done in Florida it seemed apt to do this once I had left Antigua. I woke up pretty early and finished all the packing and spent time reflecting on my last week which was emotional and pretty full on. My last week at the school was amazing yet incredibly sad and I will never forget these amazing children. On the last day I made my leaving cards with them and I spent most of the dy taking photo's and videos and exhausted both batteries in doing so. We had Compleanos day and it was a good way to take the sadness out of the inevitable leaving but at the end of each session I was in tears. Sad to leave the project, the children, my amazing fellow volunteers and this wonderful country itself. Don't believe what they say when it's ooh it's too dangerous to go, yes exercise caustion but that's with anywhere. It's wonderfully rich culturally, diverse and great for adrenalin junkies. Acatenango still needs to be climbed!! Although the final night out was cut short I wasn't going to say goodbye to GVI but a I'll see you again. Thanks to Dom, Doreen, Sarah, Emma and everyone else for an amazing time and letting me be part of this wonderful experience. As I said it's not goodbye but Hasta Luego!!
In the morning i just woke up, finished my packing and took a short walk for some air around the neighbourhood. Got back to the house and said goodbye to the wonderful Christina who has been the most amazing host ever and it was so sad. Also got to say goodbye to Alex, I took one last final photo of the street with Agua in the background just as the chicken bus came past. Awesome!! Got to the airport and hung around for a while, I even got to see Emmy's mum and say goodbye to her. Got on the plane and as we took off said thank you Antigua and Shaj!!
