Hi all
Well I have been in Spain for 4 days now and I have almost exhausted myself with the Gaudi art work but more importantly I have also left my guide book up in my ten person mansion and I cannot leave the computer or I will not get another slot until 2011, so the spelling of local attractions will be shocking and my basic grammer will also suffer as the google toolbar is not here to save my spelling bacon!
Barcelona is a nice city and regardless of it being buillt on a block system I still manage to get lost as soon as I walk out the front door, though the metro here is really easy and cheap so that has saved me! All the American kids say it is easy to get about as it is like "the blocks back home", I just say I ain´t been to the USA and stroll around acting as if I know where I am going!
I went to the top of the famous unfinished cathedral La Sagrida Famillia, which was awesome from the very top of the spire as you could see the whole city and walked down via a steep and skinny stair case. Gaudi was a clever man. Anyone who does not know his work, it is worth a google. I bought a combined ticket and found my way to Park Guell (library photo on this blog) which was good as I had a mooch around Gaudi´s house - he was out though. I have found two other parks of which I cannot remember the names of without my guide book! They are a real salvation as the city is fast paced like London and the constant police sirens and horn honking can get a bit much!
I have been knocking around with an American kid whose name I asked at least 30 times and I still don´t know if I was calling him by the correct name or not and a Canadian girl (Jessie) who wants to know if she should marry her Irish boyfriend or carry on travelling? As a treat for no name man and to help Jessie, I sought out and establishment showing the Champions league football and explained the more intricate science of "Soccer" and why a 0 - 0 draw was better than a 107 - 109 score in an American game. I think they both benefitted from my wisdom.
Most people here can speak English which is good as my linguaphone course is not moving along as quickly as four hours stated on the box! So far the American folk I have met have accused me of being Scottish and Irish, I might pretend to be Welsh!
Well to finish off I am thinking of popping over to Madrid next week, but it is real expensive so I my only stay there a few days and hopefully meet up with Jessie and her boyfriend in Valencia for a week, if I can work out how to book a train ticket!
Bye bye all you lovely people
