We've arrived at the weekend and everyone has 'free time' till we all move to new hosts on Sunday. This week has had some memorable moments and 5 Rotary meetings!
Perhaps the most memorable evening (for me at least) was the Samba School 'presentation' at a Rotary Club on Thursday. We'll tell you more about this when we get home - suffice for now to say it was colourful, noisy and a taste of Samba & Carnival. Other visits have included a cosmetics company (Natura, the largest direct sell and cosmetics manufacturing operation in South America...a bit like Avon!) and a trip around the operations centre for the SP metro...not everyone's cup of tea!
The traffic in the city is incredible! Short journeys can take up to 2 hours during the rush hour. 'Paulistas' say that there a more places to take a helicopter (helipad) than bus stops!! Even the locals would not describe SP as a tourist destination, but it does have many interesting features which we hope to visit as the trip continues.
The hopitality of our hosts remains of the highest order, despite some hiccups with the schedule ... some due to the Brazilian way of organisation(!) others due to the traffic!! The weather remains constantly 8 to 10 degrees warmer than in Essex, although the nights can be a lot colder (it is winter here after all!)
I hope you enjoy the latest 'small' selection of photos.
