Melbourne Kayak Tours

From: £31.56

Duration: Varies

Category: Sightseeing

See Melbourne from a unique perspective as you kayak along the Yarra River on this small group tour with no more than 12 participants. Departing from the Docklands precinct, your guide will provide an insight into Melbourne’s history and culture as you paddle past many of Melbourne’s landmarks and iconic sites. You have a choice of an afternoon departure exploring the Docklands, Melbourne’s newest waterway suburb, or an evening tour showcasing Melbourne by night.

No previous experience is necessary to enjoy this kayak tour as full instruction will be provided. Before setting off on your state-of-the-art sea kayak you will receive a full safety briefing and an introduction to paddling techniques.

As you paddle your way through the heart of Melbourne, take in all the sights along the Yarra River, including Southbank, Federation Square and Flinders Street Station. There are two options to choose from an afternoon Docklands Kayak Tour or a Melbourne by Night Kayak Tour.

Afternoon Docklands Kayak Tour (2 hours)
Explore Melbourne’s newest waterside suburb, the Docklands. After setting off from the docks at Victoria Promenade, enjoy the panoramic views of the city skyline while passing the beautiful yachts and marinas that dot Victoria Harbour. Continue past some of the city's landmark buildings, including Etihad Stadium, before stopping waterside to savor a fish-and-chip dinner served aboard your kayak. After dinner, paddle under the impressive Bolte Bridge and further along the Yarra River before returning to the Docklands.

Melbourne by Night Kayak Tour (2.5–3 hours)
After setting off from the Docklands and getting acquainted with your kayak, you’ll stop for a unique on-water dining experience of tasty fish-and-chips aboard your kayak. You’ll then paddle your way upstream under the Bolte Bridge and through to Melbourne’s lively downtown. As Melbourne lights up you’ll kayak past Crown Casino and stylish Southbank. Paddle by iconic Flinders Street Station and beneath the historic Princes Bridge en route to Melbourne’s sporting precinct, home to the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and Rod Laver Arena, before returning to Southgate, where your tour will end.

While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

80%

The comforts of your home town and the environment you are used to are more of a rarity. Expect some challenging transport options, visits to local sites and areas that don't resemble anything at home.

You're out there in the global community! You are likely to be exposed to the elements, travel in whatever means of transport is available and basically take it as it comes, whatever comes! It can be tough.

Physical Rating
