Deluxe Mendoza Half-Day Wine Tasting Tour

From: £102.04

Duration: 6 hours

Category: Sightseeing

Argentina produces world-renowned wines, so don’t miss this chance to escape the city for the day on a wine-tasting tour. Travel through the beautiful Argentine wine country to some of the most prestigious wineries in the Mendoza area. Visit two wineries, and learn about Argentina’s rich wine-growing culture and the many varieties of world-class wine produced in the area.

Wine is one of Argentina’s most sought-after products, and you can go straight to the heart of its wine country on this half-day wine tasting tour.  You’ll travel approximately 60 miles (100km) from the city of Mendoza into the regions of Lujan de Cuyo and Maipu. Within the foothills of the Andes, the Uco Valley provides the highest altitudes at which wines are produced in the province of Mendoza.

During the tour, you’ll learn how this dry area became a wine-growing oasis with irrigation techniques that capture the snow melt runoff from the Andes Mountains. Originally created by the indigenous Huarpes people, this system is now run by computerized drip irrigation, which allows Argentina to be one of the top wine-producing countries in the world.

You'll visit two wineries and enjoy a wine tasting session, during which you'll become familiar with the local wines. Your English- and Spanish-speaking guide will explain the technique of wine tasting, wine production, the importance of the cork in the bottle and the correct way to handle a glass. A relaxing day in Mendoza wine country is an unforgettable experience for your senses.

Many of the wineries in the region are not open daily or have varying schedules. Depending on the day, the wineries visited will be different. The following are the potential wineries visited on this tour.

Maipu: La Rural, Tempus Alba, Carina, Vina el Cerno, Lopez, Reyter, Tapaus, Navarro Correas, Benegas

Lujan: Achaval Ferrer, Tapiz, Catena Zapata, Alta Vista, Nieto Senetiner, Cavas de Weinert, Luigi Bosca, Lagarde, Cap Vistalba, Chandon, Norton, Finca Decero, El Lagar de Carmelo Patti, Septima, Viniterra, Dolium, Clos de Chacras, Sottano, Melipal, Finca Flichman
