Bratislava Day Trip from Vienna

From: £34.60

Duration: 7 hours 30 minutes

Categories: Sightseeing, Cruises & Sailing

While in Vienna, don’t miss the opportunity to visit another European capital, the beautiful city of Bratislava in Slovakia. On this day trip, your knowledgeable guide will give you a complete overview of the city as you visit its main sites, such as the impressive Bratislava Castle, the Grassalkovich Palace, Michael’s Gate and many others. Upgrade your tour to include a high-speed catamaran sail on the Danube River back to Vienna!

Leave Vienna behind in a comfortable coach to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia located on the banks of the Danube River. Traveling 40 miles (64 km) east through the countryside, enjoy the beautiful Austrian landscape.

Upon arrival, your guide will take you to picturesque Old Town Bratislava for a 2.5-hour walking tour. On this guided tour, enjoy a wonderful panorama of the Slovakian capital as you visit its main sites such as Michael’s Gate, the only remaining gate of the medieval fortification of Bratislava, and Bratislava Castle, located on a hill and dating back to the Stone Age.

Visit Grassalkovich Palace and learn about its history from your guide. Built as a summer residence for Count Grassalkovich in the 18th-century, this huge rococo-style palace was used as a Hungarian aristocracy social center. Continue to the Primate's Palace, an 18th-century palace inspired by French classicism considered today as one of the most beautiful buildings in Bratislava.

Then, enjoy your box lunch (included) and spend some free time visiting one of the numerous coffee houses, shops or cultural sites. Visit the Slovak National Theatre and St Martin’s Cathedral, an ancient coronation place for Hungarian emperors. On your way, you may be able to spot the four life-size bronze statues of the French Napoleon soldier, each hidden in the streets of Old Town Bratislava.

After your sightseeing tour, board the coach and enjoy a relaxing drive back to Vienna.

Or, upgrade your tour to return to Vienna by high-speed catamaran! Sail in a state-of-the-art catamaran on the famous Danube River as you take in the scenic landscape and admire the region’s main sights from the water. Pass through the unspoiled Danube River wetlands and the Donau-Auen National Park before arriving at Schwedenplatz in Vienna.
