What to bring A drink bottle – we carry extra water but you will need to bring your own bottle or hydration pack. A lightweight jacket if the forecast looks wet An extra layer in case it gets cold, it is often much cooler at the summit of Mount Lofty Sunglasses and sunblock small rucksack to carry the above items
Tipping:
If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides and drivers a tip - though not compulsory - is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across many Intrepid Urban Adventures destinations. Please consider this when budgeting for your extra expenses on this tour.
Notes:
Please provide your height at the time of booking so we have suitable bikes available.   Due to fragile ecosystem we ask that you arrive with relatively clean shoes (NOT caked in mud) and the same applies for bikes. Tyres and shoe soles will be cleaned with a mild bleach or methylated spirits at the start and end of the ride.   The riding: The riding will be a mix for forest tracks, fire tracks and quiet public roads. We will ride about 15km, but don’t worry, it is mainly downhill or on flat trails and roads. The off-road section of the ride is on 4WD trails and service roads, and whilst the trails can be uneven and rocky in places, walking a short distance is no problem

Tour Itinerary

Get ready for a brilliant biking adventure on this energetic tour through some of South Australia’s best bush trails. Start the journey by being transported to the summit of Mount Lofty. Being the highest point in the Adelaide Hills, Mount Lofty offers panoramic views of Adelaide City and the surrounding hills and plains. Learn a bit about bike safety and the trails you’ll be riding before setting off on a leisurely ride along dirt tracks and service roads to the first stop of the day - Cleland Wildlife Park.

Take time to explore the park, which at more than 35 hectares is a huge home for many of Australia’s native animals. Have fun spotting kangaroos, lorikeets and wallabies as well as many other Australian native species that live here. There may also be a chance to meet a koala! Stop to recharge with morning tea then continue the adventure by beginning the big ride of the day. Pedal through the stunning Cleland Conservation Park, riding through native bush along 4WD trails. These trails are normally closed to cyclists, so this is a unique chance to ride tracks that are usually ‘off limits’ to those on two wheels! While riding, appreciate the serenity, spot native animals and listen to the twitter of the local birdlife.

Watch the scenery change as you cycle into suburban Adelaide, where the bush slowly gives way to quiet streets and parkland. This pedal-powered adventure ends as the group cycles into quaint Adelaide city. Why not choose to relax afterwards with a hot coffee at a café or a cool beer in a local pub?
