After a 1 hour delay, we finally boarded the Hang Chau express boat to take us to Chou Doc along the Mekong River. A compact, 12 seater boat. A quick visit to the Russian market before packing and heading of the dock to board our boat to Chau Doc. The market was soooo much fun. Emma and I could have spent many more hours there. Fresh fruit (we bought lychees, mango steen and mangos for the journey), fresh vegetables, live sea food, fresh noodles, women chopping chicken meat, beef meat, shelling prawns, lobster. After a lovely cooked breakfast we set off in a tuk tuk to the Royal palace...not as impressive as we thought it would be so slightly disappointing. The place looked very tired and unkept. Another tuk tuk ride takes us to prison 21. This was a sad sight. Pre Khmer Rouge, this was once a happy school . Lots of photographs of those who were taken prisoners . Definitely back in a big city! Back in traffic jams as we head to our hotel, a 30 minute drive from the Phnom Penh airport. 6 lanes of crazy traffic!
