Yao Liang & Hui Sin's Footsteps

Cameron Day 1, Malaysia

Monday 24 July 2006

This is the second time we are going on an overseastrip after the me and dAr went to Hong Kong last week. This time we are going with a different batch of friends. Except for Fei, our team is Choon Boon, William and Mei Jing. Due to the courtesy of William who is able to book cheap resort using SAF Regular's 'power', we were able to embark on this trip.

As with most people, we started our trip early in the morning meeting at Golden Mile Complex taking the Sri Maju Coach. We started the trip taking lots of photos, catching flying hippos and catching up on sleep before we arrived at Yong Ping. Yong Ping is a favourite place to stop by for people taking the coach to places in Malaysia like Malacca or KL. They offer relatively cheap and good lunch and some snacks to bring on the way to eat on the bus. My darling is ever so hapy during lunch. Haha.

Due to the fact that the Sri Maju coach is not heading towards Cameron, we had an abrupt waking to our sleep at about 4pm when the bus uncle kept shouting and hurrying us of the bus when we were soundly asleep. Shocked, we went through some trial and error before we got on the connecting 'flight' to cameron via the mini van provided.

The journey up Cameron proved interesting as the driver is so professional that he resembled those from Initial-D. He doesn't seem frightened on the oncoming vehicle and winding slopes. Another interesting thing I spotted is that villagers there often line the side roads with their wares to sell to tourist that may stop along the way to buy them. What's the most interesting thing is that Choon Boon has motion sickness and his face turns very white. (He's already very white already)

We reached our resort, the Strawberry Park Resort at 5.30pm. I quite liked the European Tudor style Resort that we booked. You guys can see more of it in my photo album. By the way, the interior is quite big too, offering a spacious living room, 1 master bedroom, 1 normal room and 1 rokan style room. Enthusiastic as we are, we took a lot of photos and explored around the place before decideding to go down to town for dinner. One other thing to take note is that the weather there is around 20 degrees which is the temperature that dAr Dar likes a lot. Maybe she should become a Boh Tea planter there.

As there is no bus service there, the main mode of transport there is the taxi and we asked the hotel to call the cab for us. to our surprise, the cab is an antique car which according to the owner is manufactured in 1985 which means it is as old as us. And they don't go according to the meter but they quoted us the price.

So off we go to the town to get ourselves dinner and we decided to do one thing that must be done in Cameron. Eat Steamboat!! That is the best because of the cold weather. However, the steamboat is not the eat all you can kind found in Singapore. They give fixed proportions but surprisingly we were full after finishing everything they gave us. After that we stocked up on foods and snacks and headed back.
