Yao Liang & Hui Sin's Footsteps

Tokyo - Ueno, Japan

Sunday 16 December 2007

We arrived at Ueno at around 10am and the first thing we did is to find the legendary locker room which is always mentioned and we needed it because we don't want to drag Little Red Riding Hood around the place. In the end we found it in one lonely corner in the JR Ueno Station which is just across the street from Keisei Ueno Station. The biggest locker costs 800 yen (S$10.50) for a one time use. So expensive right? Then the thing is that if I suddenly "Oh sh*t, my wallet is inside" after you lock the thing, there flies your 800 yen.

After that we headed to the Ueno Park. The weather here at Ueno is so good, cold but with the protection we got its super cool. The first thing we saw at the park is that the cats there are super fat. I don't know whether they are fed a lot in Japan or that they need to grow thick furs like sheeps to prepare for winter. (Do cats hibernate? Haha joking lah)

Strolling in the park while holding my loved one's hands is kind of romantic. The cold weather, the thick coats, the trees with falling leaves lining the side of the walkway adds to the feeling in me. We were lucky to be here on Sunday which is a weekend for the Japanese too. Everywhere is Japanese families, Dad, Mum and their little kids strolling in the park. (We couldn't see teenagers with their parents.)

The park is also bustling with life today. There's a lot of street performers in the park performing for some money. One teenager caught our eyes and we stayed throughout his performance. He performed magic, glass orb, Rubix cube and robot dance which is my favourite. The rest are good too. They performed wind instruments.

After that we left the park to have a quick lunch before heading down to Machida to meet her Japanese colleague to pass her the cupcakes and Bak Kua (Pork Sheets) that we brought over for her Dai-Ichi Company. Not the whole company though.

In the end we chanced upon an old school (Singlish for Old and Vintage) small cozy restaurant which serves Japanese food at an affordable rate. So we ordered what we thought to be fried chicken but it turns out to be fried oysters. My Favourite !! Sorry dAr DaR, because in the end I ate almost all of what dAr DaR has. It's really a satisfying meal for me. Heehee, thanks dAr !

After the meal, we got our luggage and we took the train all the way down to Machida via the Odakyu Line and we took an hour to go there. Due to the large area the train journey is generally long and we have ample time to sleep, look at the sceneries and look at the school girls and Handsome guys here.

There we met her Colleague ! Well, she looked much prettier than the photo that she sends. So much younger and well my dAr agrees so. Soon my super Amazing dAr is engaging herself in a conversation with her and her husband, mind you, its in Japanese ok ! I wanted to "Nihongo Ga Hanasemasen" but I chickened out. Haha. We took one photo for memory. A precious shot indeed.

After that we decided to head back to our Asakusa Vista hotel in Tawaramachi before heading out to Shibuya at night.
