Yao Liang & Hui Sin's Footsteps

Tokyo - Asakusa Night, Japan

Tuesday 18 December 2007

We were at Asakusa at 7.40pm, after rushing down from DisneySea. The sky is totally dark and I couldn't believe it's still only 8pm. We heard that there is a Hagoita-ichi there every December during the winters and since we're there and our hotel is so close to Asakusa, it would be a total waste not to go there.

When we reached there, the Nakamise Shopping Street is already closed and we could only see some shops which are further inside nearer to Sensoji Temple which were opened. Our main aim here today was to get one of those Hagoita (Japanese's equivalent of Badminton). After browsing for so long and looking at all the different exquisite designs on the Hagoita from the various shops there, we decided to buy a cheap one that does not have the special Japanese Designs. The original ones costs a bomb.

We also got a glimpse of Kaminarimon (Kaminari Gate) and took some photos of the famous red lanterns. We also got the chance to go in to see the Five- storied Pagoda and the main building of Sensoji Temple, all in night shots. Soon the crowds (not really much of a crowd though) start to disperse and our stomaches start to growl, we decided to leave the place but planned to come back as we noticed a whole range of shopping 'potential' at Nakamise Shopping Street and Shin-Nakamise Shopping Street.

We wondered around like hungry souls around Shin-Nakamise Shopping Street and found and old school Japanese Crusine Shop. This one is old school Japanese Style man ! There's this machine where all the food available is on the machine. Just have to slot in the coins, press the food you wan and out comes the coupon. Just take the coupon and go in and give it to the auntie there. Done !! Ready to eat !! Both of us are just facinated with the machine.

Again, the shop is warm inside, yeah, I just love the eating places in Japan now when the temperature at night can reach 8 degrees. I don't understand dAr DaR though, she can be warm when she's just wearing 2 layers and they're just cotton dresses. Anyway, our food came, Japanese Curry rice and Ramen. Again... OISHII !!!!
