Yao Liang & Hui Sin's Footsteps

Avenue Of Stars, Hong Kong

Friday 14 July 2006

After the Ocean Park, we decided to try to take the ferry at the harbour to cross over to the other side and at the same time enjoying the scenery of the Hong Kong Harbour . Surprisingly the number of people taking the ferris too much. Apparently, people who are working at the other side of Hong Kong used this more traditional method to get to the other side rather then choosing to use their railways. I think it's due to the cost and the scenery. A nice time to unwind after a day of hard work and enjoy the breeze.

After the ferry ride, we split up again to have some time together alone. We went to the Avenue of Stars in the evening. The sky is already turning dark and it's clear that a storm is coming. It's most memorable here as me and daR braved the heavy winds and rain with only a red little useless umbrella with us. The purpose? To wait at the avenue of stars for the Symphony of lights at every 8.30pm. The symphony of Lights is a display of lights and music which can be seen coming out of selected high-rise buildings on the other side of the straits. It's really a sight not to be missed. All the braving is worth it after we've seen the display but it's a little too short.

After that we went in to the shopping centers nearby to shield ourselves from the rain and at the same time have our dinner. We decided to have KFC which prove to be quite an experience. They are quite different from what we get in Singapore. They don't have set meals, we get to choose one item from the sets of food there to jigsaw together a meal. In the end we tried the original chicken (only Singapore have Crispy) the interesting mushroom rice and mango drink. We also manage to try some of the Hong Kong snacks there.

Tip: Bring a better umbrella.
