Wednesday turned out to be the worst rainday since our arrival. As such, we all decided to go on a road trip to Nate's farm in Gloucester about 1.5 hours from boomerang.
So 4 cars set off with almost the entire crew of 17 people. It rained almost the entire time we drove. We stopped for lunch in the town of Gloucester another cute small village. The roadhouse cafe was great with old vintage motorcycles as the backdrop. Dave again picked up the tab! He has to stop doing that!
The last leg of the trip to the farm consisted of crossing several overtopping bridges. It's been raining so much lately that some areas have been flooding particularly south of Sydney. The last crossing saw our 4x4 in almost 2 feet of water. It's weird to see all that brown water gushing under the vehicle and not being able to see the road. As they say in Oz, no worries mate, or was that in the Lion King?
Nate's farm was really cool, about 300 acres, picturesque farmhouse and 60 cattle, mostly Angus and another I can no longer remember. Off course it rained so hard that even the cattle were hiding to avoid the cold. It also meant that hunting down the elusive koalla bear and platypus which are abundant on the farm was a no go.
Once we were back at boomerang the plans to go out to the Rec Centre changed into pizza night in, complete with drinking and being merry. At 1:30am the night finally ended.
Thursday saw the sun again...yeah! So off to elizabeth beach for boogy boarding and working on those tans. By noon we were back for lunch and already planning our next assault on the local fish population. Dave, Nate, and Veet (Sanda's brother) and I tried our luck at the peer at the Rec Centre where we were also again going to try and have a night out. this time as it so happens in fishing I was the only one catching fish. About 5 small brim and one puffer fish none of which we kept due to size and the fact that we forgot the pail. Nate managed to catch a weirdo fish, sort of a prehistoric cat fish...ugly.
We ended meeting every one for diner and drinks inside the centre. Another merry time was had.
Friday, our last day at boomerang, we of course started the day at Elizabeth beach. The weather was once again perfect, so snorkeling, boogy boarding, blah blah the usual beach thing.
Around 5 pm we finally packed all our things and headed back to Sydney with Dave.
Saturday morning we drove Alexia to the airport and said our goodbyes. Dave dropped us off in the paddington market while he had a tooth filling looked after. After a tour of many beautiful areas of Sydney we ended at the legendary Bondi Beach. This is a great beach for which Sydneyers have easy access. There were thousands of tanned hardbodies everywhere, very "baywatch" like. A quick pointer on Sydney parking, you have to get back to the car before your ticket runs out. Luckily we saw the parking dudes and we had to run pass them before they ticketed us... No worries mate.
We spent the rest of the evening taking it easy and feasting on pizza, not exactly part of hunter gatherer diet, but really tasty.
