Around The World In 49 Days
We arrived at Waitangi on the Bay of Islands this afternoon after a brilliant journey up from Auckland, with stunning scenery of domes and bays. The hotel is in the grounds of the Waitangi National Reserve, close to the National Treaty House where the Maoris signed the treaty with Britain. The area is called the birthplace of NZ, where the Brits established sovereignty and first settled.
Our room overlooks the bay and having explored the local town of Paihia, buying local wine at a Farmers Market, from the Fat Pig Vineyard in Kerikeri and locally grown macadamia nuts, we are all set for aperitif on the grass outside our room seeing the sun go down.
