Monkey Business was the order of the day. Literally!
I had read that Areiao Park was home to monkeys that are native to the area. Looking at the map it was 3.5 km from the hotel so I set off early with my trusty GPS and managed to get to the Park before the heat settled in.
I spent a couple of hours wandering the Park taking some pictures and video of the monkeys. Many were visible but more often than not you could only hear them way up in the trees. This is one attraction that I highly recommend.
Since it was mid-day and into the heat by the time I was heading back I took my time and making sure that I kept in the shade wherever possible. If you can manage that it is quite comfortable.
About half way I stopped for lunch. I am now eating my major meal at this time since there is very little choice after 3 PM. Probably something that would good practice everywhere.
I am also beginning to think that the Brazilian method of mostly self-serve buffets where you pay by the kilo is smart. It seems to encourage people to eat lighter things like salads and to ration their amounts. There are very few Brazilians that are overweight.
When I was walking to the Convention venue there was a section of beautifully treed pathway that I could take for a short distance. It seemed to be circular and appeared to be very popular with joggers, walkers, etc.
Since it is only a couple of blocks from the hotel I thought I would try walking it at dusk when the weather truly becomes gorgeous here. It turns out it is the area that surrounds the Zoo and it a perfect evening walk. And extremely popular for walking and jogging after dusk. It is indeed circular and about 1.5 km around with a variety of different paths you can take.
It was a gorgeous evening for a stroll. Goiania in the evening, is for me, the perfect weather.
