Frog Anyone?
Took me a while to get off to sleep last night, the guy's snoring was so loud I could hear it through my iPod. I'm so glad Chris doesn't snore. The couple didn't speak to us this morning, maybe they were embarrassed about the snoring.
When we got off the train Dani was standing outside the door waiting for us. We walked through the mass of taxi drivers all waiting in the station car park. Everyone of them we walked passed shouted out "You need taxi?!" We carried on towards the exit of the car park and chose a car that wasn't blocked and could easily get out.
When we arrived at the hotel Dani stayed at we suddenly realised how early it was in the morning. It was 5:30am, the receptions shutters were down so we weren't sure what to do at first. Then we asked the driver to call them for us. He didn't bother, he got out of his car, walked over to the shutters and banged on them until someone pulled them up. The sleepy receptionist welcomed us all in and checked for a room. There weren't any clean ones available so he advised us to wait until the cleaners had been in at 7:30am then went back to sleep on his fold out bed.
We had a couple of hours to kill and nothing was open outside, so we sat up watching the rest of our Office series while Dani went to sleep in a bed she found in the storage room. She was getting picked up later to go to Halong Bay so could do with the extra few hours kip.
The hours passed and the staff began to stir. We hadn't even noticed a second guy sleeping on the chairs opposite us! It wasn't until a lady came down that we were able to check into a room. I don't think the cleaners had been in but the room was clean. It cost us $14 a night including all you can eat breakfast and today's was free! So before freshening up we went back downstairs to eat, we saw Dani before she was picked up and said good bye to her, then went back to our room to sleep.
We were more tired than we had realised and slept in until 2pm! We got up and got all our washing together which was practically everything. We asked reception if they could give us a discounted price for our washing as there was so much. The lady agreed $1 per kilo which saved us a few quid.
We left the hotel and went for a late lunch around the corner. We ate frog with garlic and butter. It was very nice and tasted a bit like chicken. It was strange pulling out the tiny skeleton, I had the spine, but then again it's no different to pulling out chicken bones really.
For the rest of the day we were lazy, we stayed in our room watching films and didn't bother going out for dinner. I found out how to use iCloud on the iPad and got to speak to my mum for an hour then we headed back to bed.
We've had a really busy week and we don't have any clean clothes to wear so we are going to have another lazy day tomorrow and try to catch up on some films and blogging.
