Good bye Thailand.
We have begun our journey out of Thailand and into Laos and we're on the sleeper train now, tucked up in our made out beds. They are actually surprisingly comfy! We booked two top beds, second class for only 688 bht each. It's a bit cramped to sit up but we both have enough space to stretch out when laying down. Neither of us slept well last night so we're hoping to get a good kip now. I kept Chris up by fidgeting again, my legs, arms and feet felt the itchiest they have ever been before! It's as though the Mosquitos were waiting for me to get off the boat and attack me with avengence! And to piss things off a little more there was a bird right outside our window the whole night with a crow that sounded like it was telling us to "f*** Off!" It was cool at first, then all I wanted to do was shoot the dam thing lol. Chris wasn't happy this morning either because the taxi driver came and knocked on our door at 6:50am when he wasn't supposed to come until 10am! Oh well I guess it all adds to our adventure right?
The taxi ride to Phuket airport was smooth, then we caught a flight to Bangkok, our flight was delayed by half hour but landed only fifteen minutes later than our planned arrival time, the captain must have put his foot down.
Once we arrived in Bangkok Airport we thought about getting a taxi to the train station but decided to try the subway instead. Its a good job we did, it was so cheap and just like a London Underground train except it was a lot cleaner and they had a tv in each coach! Plus it only took fifty five minutes including a ten minute change.
While we were on the train I did a bit of people watching. It was like being back in London except the people were all Thai, obviously. Everyone was wearing the latest fashion and almost everyone had the latest phone or gadget in their hand. The train also had allocated seats for Monks as well as elderly and less able to stand passengers. There were no hippies like we saw in Khao San Road when we first arrived in Thailand. Infact I think a hippy would look more like a homeless person if they were to step on a train in the business district of Bangkok, yet a smartly dressed person looks just as out of place in Khao San Road and some of the south islands.
We didn't have to wait too long for our sleeper train that would take us to the Laos border, I was quite looking forward to the beds too. As you may have gathered I like sleeping :-)
Once we arrive in Laos we will then catch whatever transport will get us to the capital Vientiane. So now we will watch the sun set over the hills of Thailands more rural areas, passing farms and small villages, we have only seen Thailands bottom so far and we have liked what we have seen, it's been brilliant! We can't wait to come back here at the end of our trip to see what the top and belly of Thailand has to offer. We have had the most amazing time and have met some lovely people and seen some beautiful sights and it's only the beginning of our travels!
Next stop, Laos.

maureen Hi Maureen, Thanks, how have you been? Do you still work for Kuoni? We had a great time in Laos, we are in Cambodia now. We don't like the cities that much, too smelly and busy, but the rural countryside is lovely. We might head off down to the beach in the next couple of days, get away from all the dust and dirt lol. Tell Jade I said hi back, when is she playing on the Olympics? X x
Maureen Hi Charlotte, been abit behind on the blogs going to spend the afternoon catching up today. Yes I still work at kuoni I recently moved departments and I am really enjoying it. Jade is yet to be picked for the Olympics as the trials haven't started yet. However she had thrown the B standard twice do she needs an A standard and she will be in with a chance. She is training in California at the moment for hot weather. Hope your travels are still wonderful All my love Maureen xxx
Charlotte Hey Maureen, Nice to hear from you, what department do you work in now? Jades in California? Sounds like she's living the luxury life to me. Fingers crossed she gets in, I wanna watch her on the telly box! Enjoy reading ;-) Love Charlotte x
