Tubing!
We went tubing today! We went into the shops and bought ourselves some tubing vests so now we looked like everyone else. Chris let me buy the list of stuff I wanted too lol. Shorts, bikini, sunglasses, I was a happy lady lol :-D
At 12:30pm we went to the shop to buy a tube each, we tried to get a tube from the river yesterday but no one would give us one unless we had a number printed on us to prove we bought one. When we got to the river we started at the first bar. It was a bit boring so after one drink we sat in our tubes and floated over to the next one. Local people working at the bars threw ropes with plastic bottles tied to them out to us so they could pull us into their bar. I think they had a game of who could hit the most tourists on the head lol. I bought a bucket next, I needed to get some courage in me so I would have a go on the zip wire. For one I don't like heights and two I especially don't like being up high on something that feels unstable. The platform was made of bamboo and continuously wobbled. We watched a few people go first, if you don't let go before hitting the stopper at the end, you would be forced into a flip like the one Chris did yesterday. I decided to give it a go but did a boring jump just to see what it was like, it was great! Alcohol definitely helps with the vertigo (I might have to slip in a few shots before my bungee in New Zealand later this year). I went up again but this time I didn't let go. I hit the stopper and did a clumsy flip. I must have landed better than Chris because it didn't hurt. I came up giggling, it was so much fun I couldn't wait to go to the next bar that had a rope swing that threw you high in the air! Neither of us tried to flip, we watched a few guys do belly and back flops. They looked painful and the red marks proved it.
A few hours must have passed and I think we were at the fourth bar when we got chatting to a crazy Irish couple called Kevin and Claire. They were obsessed with the free whiskey shots and kept giving them to us! We couldn't say no to them so joined in. It was all down hill from there lol. We went to get in our tubes again and head to the next bar that had a huge slide. Just as the boys left Claire told me she couldn't swim! Great, what the hell was she doing getting into a river drunk!? I told her I would help her if she needed me (I was drunk too, I don't think I would have been much help). I watched her get on then fall off a couple of times, she was doing it all wrong lol. I eventually managed to help her on then Kevin stayed with her. I caught up with Chris who was still clinging onto my bucket and we made it to the bar.
We both had a go on the slide, it was bloody painful!!! Chris went down on his belly and landed on his front slightly winding himself. I tried to stay sitting up so I would land on my feet but the curve at the end of the slide threw me into the air so I landed straight on my back! I remember flying through the air knowing it was going to end badly lol. I hit the water and was stunned, I didn't move and floated to the surface. Then suddenly wack! One of the bar staff through a rope out to me and hit me straight in the side of the head with the bottle! I would have gone after him if I wasn't already in so much pain lol. Next was the trapeze, we watched two small Loas kids go together, it looked really cool so without thinking we decided to do the same. It was a dumb idea, we must have weighed at least twice their weight and so as soon as we left the platform the weight if us force us to let go of the bar and hit the water hard. This resulted in Chris getting bruised and my bikini top broke!
Claire got hold of some neon spray paint. I sprayed a dodgy looking butterfly on my belly and Chris got a few stars on his chest. Some girl was walking around with green paint and sprayed a d*** on anyone in her pathway. She ended up covering the majority of Chris's back in green paint, he looked like the Green Hulk from behind lol, Chris sprayed a giant d*** on her back for revenge!
Another few hours passed, the sun was setting and the bar was shutting up. We all had little blue buckets drawn on our arms, these were so we could each get a free bucket from Bucket Bar later back in town. Chris still wanted to go to the next bar that had a huge blown up pillow on the river that you get bounced off when someone jumps on. I had to convince him it was too late and time to go back. So we went to get our tubes but one was missing. Chris went mad at the staff, if we didn't take the tube back we wouldn't get our deposit. After a bit of shouting they finally went and blew an old one up, they had to patch it up too!
We crossed the bridge in the dark and eventually got into the back of a truck with some other fellow tubers. They wouldn't stop singing (shouting), they couldn't sing to save their lives! Jumping of the back of the truck would have been less painful, but we needed the ride back to town lol.
The road was so bumpy, Chris clung onto the edge of the truck so not to fall off. I was sitting on a tube and was thrown into the air a few times, I landed once badly against the side and bruised my lower back and butt!
We both knew we wouldn't make it to Bucket Bar, so we went home to bed.
