I don't feel like chicken tonight!
Had a proper lay in this morning, we wern't picked up from our hotel untill 11:15am to catch our coach at 12:30pm from the bus station. We got there early so we could arrange for our Vietnam visas to be processed in a nearby shop. They only cost $38 each, which was good! If we went direct to the embassy it would have cost us $45 each and some places charge $55 each! We have arranged to pick up our passports on Friday when we return from Otres Beach, we also booked a bus and boat ticket to take us into Vietnam from Phnom Penh, that only cost us $12 each.
The coach left on time but it took an hour to leave the city as they had to pick up other people first. At one of the stops we waited at there were chickens being pulled out of crates and thrown across to someone else to tie them up. It was horrible to watch, it was right beside us so it was hard not to look. They looked so frightened and confused, many of them couldn't stand. Chris said they were battery chickens, they did look alot different to the usual chickens we had seen on the farms out in the country side. The chickens that tried to get away were battered but not killed, then they were all tied to the side of a motorbike by their legs and taken away, still alive.
The rest of the journey was smooth with no problems along the way, the coach came close to hitting a cow in the road but that was about it. We stopped once to get something to eat and arrived into Sihanouk Ville at 7:30pm. We were greeted by tuk tuk drivers, I over heard a man walking past that said he was going to Otres beach so we grabbed our bags and followed him to see if he would like to share a tuk tuk. His name was Marco, he was a little confused as to how we knew he was going to Otres Beach, he didn't think he mentioned where he was going. Perhaps I was psychic and read his mind lol. It was cheaper to all go together so he agreed and we were on our way. It was a good job we did go together, one of the roads was long and there were no lights, it would have been a bit nerve racking to go on your own.
When we arrived we walked into a couple of guest houses, most of them were full but we finally foundone. Its just across the road from the beach and restaurants, we checked in and then went out for dinner with Marco on the beach. Its too dark to see the beach but the sand feels soft on our toes, we cant wait for the morning so are going to bed early.
