Alex and Sophie's Travels

Kallang, Singapore

Hi!

Singapore 7th-10th March

The first thing we noticed about singapore was the heat (natrually as we are only 60 miles north of the equator!) . But it's not just the heat, the humidity makes you feel like your in a saunu constantly, it's not nice! You can see why the Singapore nationals retreat to massive air conditioned shopping complexes in their free time.

We spent a fair bit of time in singapore planning our route across malaysia so we didnt see everything. On our first day we went to the renound hawker market Lau Pa Sat and took our time choosing from hundereds of food stands. We followed this up with a trip to the famous Raffles Hotel for a Singapore Sling (although we had to share it , alchol prices in SG are ridiculous e.g. the equivilent of 7 GBP for one can of beer!).

The second day we headed out to the chinese gardens which were huge and really nice, We found out the disney film Mulan is based on a true story! (Check out the pictures). After the gardens we went to one of the older parts of singapore in Chinatown where market stalls lined the streets, we didnt have loads of time so couldn't do any shopping but we had some really nice traditional singapore noodles and beef.

Once we had organised our train to KL we were ready to leave Singapore, its an expensive city for backpackers! We were also happy to be getting a little further from the equator, hoping it might be cooler in KL.

Lots of Love, Alex and Sophie xxxxx
